CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) reported a generally peaceful observance of Holy Week across Northern Mindanao, crediting the outcome to heightened security measures and strong public cooperation during the week-long religious tradition.

From April 14 to 20, 2025, despite the surge of travelers and devotees participating in processions, masses, pilgrimage visits, and leisure trips to tourist destinations, authorities confirmed there were no major untoward incidents across the region.

However, PRO10 recorded three separate drowning incidents involving two minors and one adult, prompting authorities to renew calls for caution, especially when visiting areas near bodies of water.

Regional Director PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and to the personnel on the ground for their dedication throughout the observance of Semana Santa.

“We are pleased to report a generally peaceful observance of Holy Week in Northern Mindanao. The success of our security operations is a result of the close coordination among law enforcement agencies, local government units, and the unwavering support of our communities,” De Guzman said.

He also commended the efforts of force multipliers, including barangay peacekeeping action teams, volunteers, and community partners, whose collaboration helped ensure public safety.

The regional director extended his condolences to the families of the drowning victims and reminded the public to stay alert and observe safety measures, particularly during holidays and similar occasions.

PRO10 reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard communities across Northern Mindanao and thanked the public for their responsible observance of Holy Week traditions.
