Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – Police arrested five individuals at a checkpoint after receiving a report about a robbery incident at an establishment located in Zone-4, Barangay Maluko, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, yesterday.
The establishment, identified as Unity Digital Infrastructure, is owned by Aboitiz Corporation.
According to the report, the suspects entered the establishment and took 24 lithium batteries, each valued at PHP 25,000. The stolen items were then loaded onto a red Bongo truck bearing the plate number JAD 6296.
Following the robbery, authorities immediately set up a checkpoint along Sayre Highway in Barangay Tankulan, Manolo Fortich, where the suspects were successfully intercepted. The stolen batteries were also recovered during the operation.
Police also confiscated a .45 caliber pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition from one of the suspects.
The truck driver claimed that he was merely stopped by a suspect, who is believed to be a former employee of the establishment, and asked to transport the batteries without knowing they were stolen.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station as authorities prepare the charges to be filed against them.
