CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has successfully conducted the Facilitator’s Training: Unpacking Disaster Risk and Resilience and the Project TRANSFORM (Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities) Roll-Out for the Visayas and Mindanao regions. The event, led by the Project TRANSFORM Team, was guided by Chief of Staff and Supervising Undersecretary for Strategic Communications Marilou G. Erni and Undersecretary for Policy, Planning, and International Affairs Jonas R. Leones. Hosted by DENR Regional Office 10, the two-day training took place on March 18-19, 2025 in Cagayan de Oro City.

The activity gathered representatives from DENR’s Project TRANSFORM, local government units (LGUs), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Disaster Risk Reduction Offices, and other stakeholders. The training aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to enhance resilience-building efforts. Through dynamic discussions and partnerships, the initiative is expected to strengthen disaster preparedness, promote climate adaptation, and support sustainable development in various sectors and communities, ensuring a more resilient future for all.

Project TRANSFORM is a flagship program of DENR Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, focusing on environmental resilience and sustainability through collaboration with LGUs and stakeholders. The initiative integrates best practices from both the government and private sectors to create a comprehensive, evidence-based, and data-driven framework that can help communities address the escalating climate crisis.

Notably, Project TRANSFORM recently received the prestigious Gold Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines for the DENR’s entry, “From Science to Action: Transforming the Local Governance Landscape in the Philippines.” This recognition, under the Public Relations Programs – Best Use of Partnerships category, highlights the program’s effectiveness and impact in enhancing local governance and climate resilience efforts across the country.

With its continued roll-out in various regions, DENR’s Project TRANSFORM remains committed to fostering sustainable development and empowering local communities to confront environmental challenges through science-driven, collaborative solutions.
