TAGUM CITY – Three individuals were arrested in separate anti-drug operations conducted by law enforcement authorities in Tagum City, resulting in the confiscation of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

In a checkpoint operation led by personnel from Tagum City Police Station and the 1st Davao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (DNPMFC) at Purok 1, National Highway, Barangay Magdum, two motorcycle riders were apprehended after being found in possession of illegal drugs. The operation was conducted as part of the implementation of Republic Act (RA) 4136 and the police force’s anti-criminality campaign.

The suspects were identified as alias “Jomer,” 30, a resident of Barangay Maputi, Davao Oriental, and alias “Bryan” from Mt. Diwata, Monkayo, Davao de Oro. According to the police investigation, the two were stopped for not wearing helmets. However, instead of complying, they attempted to speed away, nearly hitting the officer who flagged them down. They were subsequently arrested for violating RA 4136, RA 10591, and RA 10054.

Upon inspection, authorities found one sachet of suspected shabu, a canister, a lighter, a sling bag, and drug paraphernalia in Jomer’s possession. Bryan was found with a glass tube tooter, an improvised glass tube tooter with suspected shabu residue, two aluminum foil strips, a sling bag, and the motorcycle they used. The confiscated illegal drugs had an estimated value of PHP 2,040 and a total weight of approximately 0.3 grams. Both suspects are now in the custody of the Tagum City Police Station and will face charges for violating RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a separate anti-illegal drug operation was conducted through a buy-bust at around 4:23 AM on February 18, 2025, in Purok 13, Purok Maharlika, Barangay Magugpo East. The operation led to the arrest of alias “Nomil,” 29, a resident of Purok Tipaz, Barangay Magugpo East.

During the buy-bust, a poseur-buyer was able to purchase one medium square sachet of suspected shabu using PHP 500 and three photocopied one-thousand-peso bills. Additional evidence seized from Nomil included a large square sachet of suspected shabu and a pink Mio Sporty Yamaha single motorcycle. The confiscated illegal drugs had an estimated street value of PHP 34,000, weighing approximately five grams. Nomil is currently detained at the Tagum City Police Station and will face charges under RA 9165.
