TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — A 34-year-old married woman was arrested in a late-night anti-drug operation after she was caught allegedly selling illegal drugs in Barangay Canocotan, authorities reported.

Operatives from the Tagum City Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation at around 12:01 a.m. that led to the arrest of the suspect, identified only by her alias “Dang,” a resident of Barangay Taba in the nearby municipality of Carmen, Davao del Norte.
According to police reports, the suspect was apprehended after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative. Authorities recovered approximately three grams of the illegal substance, with an estimated street value of ₱20,400.
Also seized during the operation were a brown coin purse believed to have contained drug proceeds and a black Suzuki Burgman motorcycle, which the suspect allegedly used in her illegal drug activities.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect admitted turning to the illegal drug trade due to financial hardship, highlighting the persistent link between poverty and involvement in criminal activities.
The suspect is currently under police custody and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, the country’s primary law against illegal drugs.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across Tagum City and urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement in reporting suspicious activities.
The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by local police to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in communities, even as socio-economic challenges continue to push some individuals into illicit activities.
