CAMP GALLEGO, Tubod, Lanao del Norte – A 32-year-old male was arrested in Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Matungao, Lanao del Norte, on the evening of February 13, 2025, after authorities responded to reports of a public disturbance.
According to the Matungao Municipal Police Station (MPS), personnel were dispatched at approximately 9:45 PM following a call from a concerned citizen regarding a disruptive individual. Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, identified only as alias “Mark,” who was allegedly intoxicated and behaving aggressively. As law enforcement attempted to pacify him, the suspect reportedly hurled degrading and disrespectful remarks toward the officers, leading to his immediate arrest.
During a subsequent search, authorities recovered a black coin purse containing two medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. The sachets were found to contain a white crystalline substance, suspected to be shabu, with a total estimated weight of 0.15 grams and a Standard Drug Price (SDP) value of Php 1,020.00.
The physical inventory and marking of the seized items were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspect, two barangay officials, and a media representative to ensure transparency and adherence to legal procedures. The confiscated illegal drugs have been forwarded to the Crime Laboratory Unit in Iligan City for further examination.
The suspect is currently detained at Matungao MPS, with cases being prepared for inquest filing. Charges include violations of Article 148 (Direct Assault) and Article 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority) of the Revised Penal Code, as well as Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
