Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A search warrant operation conducted by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) IX-Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, in coordination with the Ipil Municipal Police Station and the 903rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, led to the dismantling of a drug den and the arrest of three high-value targets in Barangay Sanito, Ipil, on January 30, 2025.
The joint operation, carried out at approximately 11:10 AM in Purok Caimito, resulted in the apprehension of three suspects identified by their aliases: Tahir, 18, alleged to be the drug den maintainer; Joshua, 27, classified as a drug den employee; and Dan, 27, listed as a drug den visitor. All three are residents of the area.
Authorities confiscated approximately 12 grams of suspected shabu, valued at an estimated ₱81,600, packed in 20 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, along with an additional sachet containing shabu residue. Also seized at the scene were various drug paraphernalia, including items used for repacking and consumption, a gray pouch, and a black eyeglass case.
The arrested individuals will face charges for violating Sections 6, 7, 11, and 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The law penalizes the maintenance of a drug den, employment in such establishments, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
PDEA RO9 has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying its anti-drug operations, ensuring a stronger campaign against illegal drug activities in Zamboanga Sibugay. The agency urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the illegal drug trade as part of their broader efforts to curb narcotics distribution in the province.
