Marawi City, Philippines – Agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) BARMM, in collaboration with the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), 1401st Regional Mobile Force Battalion, 43rd Special Action Company, 4th Special Action Battalion, and the Marawi City Police Station, successfully seized Php3.4 million worth of shabu and arrested two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Poblacion, Marawi City, on January 22, 2025.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of five knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated market value of Php3,400,000.00. Additional evidence recovered included buy-bust money, two mobile phones, various identification cards, and an NMAX motorcycle believed to have been used in the illegal activities.
The arrested suspects were identified as:
- Alyas Alex, 42, a provincial government employee and member of the Provincial Security Force, residing in Barangay Linuc, Tamparan, Lanao del Sur.
- Alyas Muning, 33, a resident of Barangay Tampilong, Marawi City.
The duo are now in custody at the PDEA BARMM Jail Facility and are awaiting inquest proceedings for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities emphasized their unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and vowed to intensify their efforts in apprehending individuals involved in the drug trade to ensure the safety and well-being of communities.
