Marawi City, Lanao del Sur – A celebration of hope, resilience, and cultural heritage took center stage today as the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism – BARMM officially launched the TALES of Ranaw Tourism Hub at the Lanao People’s Park. This groundbreaking initiative aims to honor the rich traditions and artistry of the Meranaw people while promoting sustainable tourism and peacebuilding in the region.
The event’s theme centered around “Stories of Hope and Resilience,” offering a platform to highlight the enduring spirit of the Meranaw community. Interactive exhibits showcased traditional crafts, textiles, and culinary delights, providing visitors a glimpse into the vibrant cultural tapestry of Lanao del Sur. Attendees were also treated to mesmerizing cultural performances, including the traditional Kapa Malong-Malong dance and kulintang music, reflecting the artistic prowess of the Meranaw people.
Key stakeholders emphasized the significance of the tourism hub in fostering economic growth, cultural preservation, and community development. Minister Abuamri Taddik of MTIT remarked, “This initiative is more than just a tourism project; it’s a testament to the resilience of the Meranaw people and their unwavering commitment to rebuilding their lives and preserving their identity.”
A cornerstone of the program was the focus on Marawi City’s rehabilitation efforts following the devastating Marawi Siege. Notable guests at the launch included Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong, provincial board members, and esteemed officials from BARMM and Lanao del Sur. Renowned curator Marian Pastor Roces shared insights on the importance of cultural preservation, while Tales of Marawi Project Manager Ruhollah Al-Husseini J. Alonto detailed the hub’s objectives and vision.
The program also underscored the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in rebuilding Marawi City. Rosslaini J. Alonto-Sinarimbo, MTIT Region Director General, expressed gratitude to all contributors, stating, “The TALES of Ranaw Tourism Hub symbolizes our collective effort to promote peace and unity through cultural pride.”
