Butuan City, Philippines – A collaborative buy-bust operation spearheaded by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XIII (PDEA RO XIII) Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET), with assistance from the PDEA Agusan Del Norte Provincial Office (ADNPO) and Butuan City Police Office Station 3 (BCPS 3), led to the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of illegal drugs and other items.
The operation took place at approximately 4:08 PM in Purok 5A Damayan, Barangay Libertad, Butuan City. Authorities targeted the suspect for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
During the operation, law enforcement seized two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). One sachet, used as the subject of the sale, contained approximately 2 grams of the substance, valued at Php6,000.00. The second sachet, discovered in the suspect’s possession, held around 1 gram of shabu, worth Php3,000.
In addition to the illegal drugs, authorities recovered buy-bust money and a black Samsung Galaxy J8 mobile phone, which was allegedly used in the suspect’s illicit activities.
The suspect is now facing charges for the illegal sale and possession of dangerous drugs. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations to combat the proliferation of illegal substances in the region and ensure public safety.
