In line with the intensified campaign against illegal drug activities, the Surigao del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (SDS PDEU), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), successfully conducted a series of anti-illegal drug operations in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

The joint operations, led by SDS PDEU Chief and PLT Gregory S. Dandoy of the SDS 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug pushers identified as “Poy,” 30, and “Ar-Ar,” 31. Both individuals are residents of Bislig City and were classified as “ready-for-listing” suspects in the drug watchlist.

Details of the Operations

The first operation took place on January 17, 2025, and targeted “Poy,” a resident of P-3, Sitio Danipas, Barangay Labisma. He was apprehended at around 9:24 PM. The second operation, conducted on January 20, 2025, led to the arrest of “Ar-Ar,” a resident of P-4, John Bosco District, Barangay Mangagoy. He was arrested at approximately 2:23 PM in P-6 Maraville, Barangay Tabon.

The operations recovered suspected illegal drugs weighing a total of 57 grams. The seized items had an estimated street value of PHP 387,600.00, including 50 grams valued at PHP 340,000.00 and 7 grams worth PHP 47,600.00. The confiscated evidence was inventoried and marked in the presence of witnesses, including representatives from the media, the barangay council, and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Legal Proceedings

The arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Warning and the Anti-Torture Act during their arrest. They are now under the custody of the Bislig City Police Station, along with the confiscated evidence, pending proper legal disposition.

PCOL Harry B. Domingo, Provincial Director of the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO), emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal drugs.

“SDSPPO will remain steadfast in our commitment to the anti-illegal drugs campaign. We urge the public to support the Philippine National Police (PNP) by providing information that could help identify and apprehend individuals involved in the drug trade. Rest assured that we will sustain this momentum as we continue to serve the Filipino people,” PCOL Domingo stated.
