Cagayan de Oro City — The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division of the Philippine Army formally welcomed its new Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs in an Assumption of Office Ceremony held yesterday morning, January 22, 2025, at the 4ID Mess Hall, Camp Evangelista, Patag.
Colonel Rey P. Pasco officially assumed the role, with Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, Acting Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, presiding over the event.
Col. Pasco brings an impressive military career to the position, underscored by leadership roles that have honed his expertise in civil-military operations and reserve force management. From 2015 to 2017, he served as the Commanding Officer of the 4th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, then based in Bancasi, Butuan City, where he made significant contributions to community engagement initiatives. He subsequently led the 16th Infantry Battalion under the 2nd Infantry Division from 2017 to 2018, demonstrating tactical and strategic prowess in operational engagements.
A graduate of the Officer Preparatory Course Class of 1994, Col. Pasco also served as Director of the 7th Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Center under the AFP Reserve Command, where he played a pivotal role in training and organizing reserve forces.
In his inaugural address, Col. Pasco expressed his gratitude and commitment to the responsibilities of his new position.
“I am deeply honored to serve as your Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs. I am ready to lead, listen, and work to ensure that our reservists in this part of Mindanao continue their proud legacy of excellence. Together, we will achieve our mission, honor our tradition, and build a future worthy of the sacrifices of those who came before us,” he said.
Brig. Gen. Yecla congratulated Col. Pasco and expressed confidence in his ability to lead.
“With our reserve force serving as an integral support to our total force, the role of ADC-RRA is critical to pursuing strategic objectives in our Army Transformation Roadmap. Consequently, I expect the Diamond Troopers to support Col. Pasco. I am confident that he will be a major asset in our mission accomplishments,” Brig. Gen. Yecla said.
The 4th Infantry Division continues its legacy of excellence, with Col. Pasco’s leadership anticipated to strengthen its network of military retirees and reservists across its area of responsibility.
Earlier this month, Brig. Gen. Yecla assumed the position of Acting Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, succeeding Maj. Gen. Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II. The Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony was held on January 17 at the 4ID Grandstand, with Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, presiding over the transition.
The 4th Infantry Division remains steadfast in its mission to support national defense and foster strong ties with local communities, retirees, and reservists in Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
