Davao City, January 4, 2025 — A tragic collision involving two vans on the National Highway in Binugao, Toril District, claimed the lives of four individuals and left several others injured earlier this morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 AM near the Binugao Gym. Initial police investigations revealed that one van, traveling from Digos City, overshot into the opposite lane, leading to a head-on collision with another van traveling from Toril. The impact was so severe that four passengers were declared dead on the spot.

The victims were aboard a Toyota HiAce Commuter van en route to Cotabato after a trip to Samal Island. The vehicle was driven by Omar Manajero Lastimoso, 29, a resident of Grotto Dos, Maguindanao. Passengers Jennifer Sandolan and Jessa Lastimoso sustained severe injuries and are currently under observation at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
Driver and Vehicle Details
The other vehicle involved in the accident was a Toyota HiAce Commuter van driven by Kadaffy Landasan Salik, 46, a resident of Poblacion, Kabacan, Cotabato. Preliminary reports indicate that Salik lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and collide with the oncoming van.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit has taken both drivers into custody as investigations continue. Authorities are verifying claims of mechanical failure and assessing possible driver error as factors in the incident.
