DAVAO CITY — A 25-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident along Quimpo Boulevard in the early hours of Sunday, March 22, 2026, authorities said.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Denise,” a resident of Agdao, is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide following the death of 39-year-old Marlene Genobili, a resident of Barangay 40-D.
According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the incident occurred at around 1:20 a.m. near the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 11. Initial investigation showed that the victim was crossing the road when she was struck by a black pickup truck driven by the suspect.
Due to the force of the impact, Genobili was thrown approximately 30 meters from the point of collision, resulting in her instantaneous death.
Instead of stopping to assist the victim, the suspect reportedly sped away from the scene, triggering a brief pursuit.
A City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) truck driver, identified as Brian Solatorio, noticed the suspect’s vehicle swerving erratically along the road, prompting him to intercept it near Champaca Street in Juna Subdivision.
Solatorio flagged down the vehicle and observed that the driver appeared intoxicated, reportedly smelling strongly of alcohol. He then turned the suspect over to authorities at the Ecoland Police Station.
It was only upon endorsement to the police station that it was confirmed the vehicle and driver were involved in the fatal hit-and-run incident.
Police said the suspect is currently under custody while formal charges have been filed against her.
The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety and drunk driving in the city, with authorities reiterating calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and responsible driving, especially during late-night hours.
