Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur – A buy-bust operation conducted on November 21, 2024, at around 4:55 PM in Purok Water Lily, Barangay Poblacion, led to the arrest of a regional target-listed drug personality and the confiscation of suspected illegal drugs.
The operation was carried out by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) RO IX – Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office in coordination with the Margosatubig Municipal Police Station.
The suspect, identified as Halid Hasim Calamente, 37, a vendor and resident of the area, was apprehended during the operation. Authorities seized approximately six (6) grams of suspected shabu, valued at Php 40,800.00 based on Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) standards.
Other confiscated items included:
- A cigarette pack labeled “New Berlin,” used as a container for the suspected shabu.
- One (1) black Oppo cellular phone with a brown casing.
- Four (4) pieces of Php 1,000 boodle money, topped with one (1) genuine Php 1,000 bill, used as buy-bust money.
The suspect will face charges in court for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation underscores the continued efforts of PDEA RO IX and local authorities to address illegal drug activities and protect communities from the harms of substance abuse.
