Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte—Authorities seized an estimated Php408,000 worth of shabu and arrested one suspect during a buy-bust operation conducted in Sitio Anahaw, Barangay Galas, on October 11, 2024.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Ian S. Lofranco, Commander of the Regional Special Operation Unit 9 (RSOU-9), identified the suspect as “Angkol,” a 50-year-old resident of Barangay Galas, Dipolog City.
The operation, carried out by RSOU-9, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP DEG), and local law enforcement units from Dipolog City Police Station, PPDEU9, and ZNPIT RIU9, led to the arrest of the suspect and the confiscation of a large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing approximately 60 grams of shabu. The illegal drugs have an estimated street value of Php408,000. Authorities also recovered boodle money and other non-drug-related evidence during the operation.
The suspect now faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
In a statement, the Zamboanga del Norte PNP reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs to ensure the safety and security of the community.
