Koronadal City, South Cotabato—The City of Isabela de Basilan was named the Grand Winner for the Best Cultural Festival (Independent and Component City Level) at the 25th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) Pearl Awards, held today, October 10, 2024. The city received the prestigious recognition for its vibrant Sakayan Festival, a celebration of the city’s rich cultural diversity.

The Sakayan Festival, envisioned by City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, highlights the harmony and unity among Isabela de Basilan’s multicultural communities. City Tourism Officer Claudio M. Ramos II led the delegation in receiving the award, along with Tourism Operations Officer II Ms. Arriana K. Jupakkal, Tourism Associates Ms. Nikki Yvonne A. Jayson, Mr. Joevan Kali, and Mr. Mark Soriano. Joining them at the event was Department of Tourism Undersecretary for Halal and Muslim Affairs, Ms. Mayra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar, who expressed her pride in the city’s achievement.
