Dipolog City, Philippines – A high-value drug suspect was arrested in a joint anti-drug operation led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Office on the evening of February 28, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Cyril Gumalingan y Melancio, also known as Roldan Tubol, 50 years old, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City. Gumalingan, a habal-habal driver and a resident of Sitio Paraiso, Barangay Galas, was caught in possession of approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php340,000.00.
Authorities also confiscated an android phone, a driver’s license, and the buy-bust money used in the operation.
The operation, which took place at 9:12 PM, was a collaborative effort involving the Dipolog City Police Station Special Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 (RDEU9), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Zamboanga del Norte, Philippine National Police – Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), and the 1st Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (ZNPMFC).
The suspect is currently under police custody and will be charged for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes the sale, possession, and distribution of illegal drugs.
Authorities continue to intensify their anti-drug operations to curb the proliferation of illegal substances in the region.
