Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod Party Expels Four Al-ag Officials for Violating Party Rules

The Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod Party (HTLP) has officially announced the expulsion of four members from its ranks, citing violations of the party’s Constitution and By-Laws. Those expelled include Councilors Bernard E. Al-ag of Davao City’s 1st District, Wilberto E. Al-ag of the 3rd District, and Punong Barangays Lilibeth Al-ag of Toril Proper and Bernadette Al-ag of Bankas Heights.

In a statement released by HTLP Secretary General Sebastian Z. Duterte, the party explained that the expulsion was in strict adherence to Article 7 on Party Discipline and Loss of Membership, specifically Section 6(b), which prohibits members from assisting or supporting other political parties or individuals without prior approval from HTLP.

The party confirmed that the expelled officials had been actively supporting the Tingog Partylist, a political entity not aligned with HTLP, which constitutes a violation of party rules. Their actions, described as promoting the interests of the Tingog Partylist instead of advancing the Hugpong agenda, were deemed a direct betrayal of the party’s principles.

The HTLP emphasized that it remains fully committed to its alliance with the Pwersa ng Pilipinong Pandaragat (PPP), which shares its vision for the improvement of Davao City and the broader Filipino community. According to the party, the actions of the expelled individuals were incompatible with HTLP’s priorities and direction.

“This decision underscores our commitment to uphold the integrity of our Party and the principles we stand for,” said Duterte in the statement. He also thanked party members and supporters for their continued trust and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to HTLP’s vision.

The party acknowledged that the expulsions might prompt significant discussions within the community, but stressed that maintaining the integrity of its values and goals would always take precedence.

HTLP continues to encourage its members to work together in the service of Davao City, with a focus on unity and loyalty to the party’s mission.
