The four individuals, all residents of Barangay Malanta in Sapa-Sapa, presented themselves to authorities during a barangay visitation, a coordinated effort between the police and local officials aimed at reducing criminal activities in the area. Barangay Captain Hon. Maumin E. Sulayman, together with barangay council members and BPAT representatives, accompanied the individuals to witness their formal surrender and the signing of affidavits of undertaking prepared by the Sapa-Sapa Municipal Police Station.

According to police officials, the voluntary surrender was the culmination of a collaborative initiative that included information-sharing between the local community and the PNP, followed by a validation process. This approach, emphasizing community cooperation, aligns with the PNP’s mission to serve as “Guardians of Peace, Partners in Safety,” fostering safer communities across Tawi-Tawi.

The four individuals were subsequently transported to the Sapa-Sapa MPS for further documentation and proper disposition. Their affidavits of undertaking commit them to cooperate with authorities and undergo necessary assessments and interventions, part of a broader support and rehabilitation strategy intended to help reintegrate individuals into society and reduce repeat offenses.

The Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi expressed support for the PNP’s anti-criminality campaign and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote public safety and community well-being. This latest surrender demonstrates a growing trust between residents and local authorities, reflecting a community-driven approach to achieving lasting peace and security in Tawi-Tawi.
