14 Drug Reformists Graduate from Balay Silangan Program in Polanco

Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte—September 27, 2024 – A total of 14 drug reformists successfully completed their journey through the Balay Silangan Reformation Program in the municipality of Polanco. The graduation ceremony was held at the Polanco Gymnasium, where the graduates were recognized for their commitment to change and rehabilitation.

The graduates were awarded Certificates of Completion and received National Certificate II (NC II) in Driving, provided by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This certification equips them with valuable skills to help secure employment and reintegrate into society, providing them with opportunities to lead productive, law-abiding lives outside the reformation center.

Regional Director Maharani R. Gadaoni-Tosoc served as the keynote speaker for the event. In her address, she expressed her deep gratitude to the graduates for their dedication to reform. She also acknowledged the vital role of the families, whose support remained steadfast throughout the process, as well as the local government unit of Polanco for their commitment to offering second chances to individuals who had previously gone astray. Additionally, she extended thanks to the various stakeholders who contributed to the success of the anti-drug campaign in the region.

The Balay Silangan Reformation Program offers an alternative intervention designed for surrendered and qualified drug pushers. The program’s goal is to correct negative behaviors and provide participants with the tools and support necessary to reintegrate as productive members of society. Through this initiative, the local government hopes to continue making strides toward reducing drug-related issues in the community.

As the program continues to provide second chances, the success of these graduates serves as a testament to the transformative power of rehabilitation and the importance of community support in combating the effects of drug addiction.
