Davao Oriental achieved a significant milestone as it was honored with the prestigious PaNaTa Ko sa Bayan Award by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XI on March 27 in Davao City. The province was recognized for its outstanding contributions to improving social services and development programs.

Securing first place in the Masigasig Award category, Davao Oriental was acknowledged for its remarkable improvements in service quality in the field of social services for the years 2022-2023. This recognition was based on the findings of the Service Delivery Capacity Assessment.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Head Juvy Bonita Abarca, representing Governor Niño Uy, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the province. In addition, Davao Oriental also received the Gawad Serbisyong Matapat award, recognizing its sincere and dedicated service to the people.

This achievement stands as a testament to the province’s commitment to delivering high-quality social services, demonstrating the government’s dedication to the welfare of its constituents.

Aside from the provincial government, the City Government of Mati, led by Mayor Michelle Rabat, was also recognized, receiving awards in nine different categories. Mayor Rabat personally accepted these accolades.

Governor Uy expressed his gratitude to the DSWD for the recognition and assured that the provincial government would continue to uphold and enhance social services for the benefit of the people.

“The most important thing is to translate these awards into real and meaningful change to improve the quality of life of our people,” Governor Uy stated. “A leader’s success is reflected in the happiness of the people,” he added.

Governor Uy further emphasized that the Davao Oriental government remains committed to providing high-quality services to every family and community, showcasing its genuine care and support for the people.
