Davao City—A total of 217 senior citizens are set to receive financial assistance in the third payout of the Expanded Centenarian Program, further extending the city’s support for its elderly residents.
The latest batch of beneficiaries consists of 123 seniors turning 80 years old, 65 turning 85, 26 turning 90, one reaching 95, and two centenarians. Under the program, seniors celebrating their 80th, 85th, 90th, and 95th birthdays each receive P10,000, while centenarians are granted a total of P200,000 from both local and national government funds.
Lorenzo Borja, head of the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), noted that the first two distributions, held on February 26 at Almendras Gym and March 19 at People’s Park, benefited 171 seniors. The initial payout covered 78 seniors, including 42 who were 80 years old, 23 aged 85, eight aged 90, four aged 95, and one centenarian. In the second payout, 93 beneficiaries received their incentives, with 60 aged 80, 22 aged 85, nine aged 90, and two aged 95.
Borja attributed the increase in the number of beneficiaries in the third batch to more seniors submitting their applications.
For updates on the payout schedule, beneficiaries will be informed via text message from OSCA.
