Columbio, Sultan Kudarat – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Tacurong City has formalized its partnership with several people’s organizations (POs) to bolster reforestation efforts in the municipality. The agreement was signed on March 19 under the DENR’s Enhanced National Greening Program (eNGP).

The letter of agreement (LOA) cements the collaboration between CENRO Tacurong and four POs: Makat Peace and Development, Lomoyon Peace and Development Volunteer and Farmers Association, Eday Community Development and Sustainable Livelihood Program and Association, and Elbebe Peace and Development Volunteer and Farmers Association.

Through this initiative, the POs will take charge of site preparation, seedling production, tree planting, and the maintenance of reforested areas to ensure the long-term success of the project. The eNGP aims to foster socio-economic growth while promoting environmental sustainability, particularly in barangays identified under the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) program.

CENRO Tacurong emphasized the significance of the partnership in restoring forest lands and improving local livelihoods. The initiative is expected to contribute to climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and enhanced economic opportunities for communities engaged in the program.

With this concerted effort, the DENR and its partner organizations reaffirm their commitment to sustainable environmental management and community development in Sultan Kudarat.
