ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — A 45-year-old man was arrested after authorities allegedly recovered 51.78 grams of suspected shabu worth approximately ₱352,104, a pistol, and five rounds of ammunition during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Dansuli, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, on Friday evening, October 9, 2026.
According to a report from the Isulan Municipal Police Station (MPS), police officers, working with the Philippine Army, were conducting an anti-criminality checkpoint when the suspect, driving a red Ford Ranger, allegedly attempted to evade inspection.
Authorities pursued the vehicle briefly before intercepting it along a barangay road in Purok 2, Barangay Dansuli.
Police said the suspect allegedly refused to comply with their instructions and issued threats, prompting the officers to arrest him. The authorities subsequently conducted a search that resulted in the recovery of a sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 51.78 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱352,104.
The other items allegedly seized included a Taurus TH9 pistol, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, a magazine, a holster, and a sling bag.
Suspect Faces Drug, Firearms and Resistance Charges
The suspect is facing possible charges under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, concerning resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or their agents; Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; and Section 31 of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The specific charges will be subject to the appropriate legal proceedings and the determination of the relevant authorities.
Police also reported that the suspect experienced an unstable health condition upon arrival at the police station. He was subsequently brought to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital for medical attention.
As of the latest report, the suspect remains under the custody of the Isulan MPS, while the confiscated suspected illegal drugs, firearm, ammunition, and other items have been secured for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
Authorities have yet to provide further details regarding the suspect’s identity or the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession of the suspected illegal drugs and firearm.
The suspect’s arrest and the confiscation of the items remain subject to the legal process, and the allegations against him have yet to be established in court.
