Zamboanga City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has firmly debunked misleading claims about the alleged temporary closure of Zamboanga International Airport for repairs, stating that the airport remains fully operational.

In an official statement, CAAP clarified that no such closure has been planned and emphasized that all necessary repairs and maintenance work will be conducted with minimal disruption to airport operations. The CAAP Central Office, through its Aerodrome Development and Management Service (ADMS) and Area Center IX, is carefully evaluating repair options to ensure continued service without any unnecessary interruptions.

“We strongly condemn the spread of false information, as it creates unnecessary panic and disrupts travel plans. The circulation of unverified claims is irresponsible and causes confusion among passengers and stakeholders,” the statement read.

CAAP urged the public to be vigilant against misinformation and to rely only on official sources under CAAP Area Center IX for accurate updates. They also called on individuals to report any instances of fake news to the proper authorities to prevent further spread of disinformation.

Passengers and travelers are advised to check only CAAP’s official platforms for verified flight schedules and airport status updates. Any scheduled repairs or maintenance work will be announced in advance through clear, official communication channels.

“We encourage everyone to verify before sharing any information regarding airport operations. Let’s work together to combat misinformation and ensure smooth and safe travels for all,” CAAP concluded.

For official announcements and further inquiries, travelers may visit CAAP’s official website or follow their social media pages.
