Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur – Sapal Baluno, a candidate for councilor in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, passed away on Thursday evening, January 30. Baluno, who also served as the Chairman of the Political Committee in Datu Piang, was a candidate under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP).
According to reports, Baluno attended a UBJP gathering in Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur, earlier that day. While delivering a speech during the event, he suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. Witnesses said he appeared to have suffered a medical emergency.
Baluno was immediately rushed to the hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead.
Friends and colleagues who knew Baluno stated that he had a pre-existing medical condition, which may have contributed to the sudden attack.
Following his passing, the UBJP-Datu Piang Chapter released a heartfelt message honoring his service and dedication:
“Sapal ‘Bapa Kepa’ Baluno, as the Chairman of the Political Committee in Datu Piang, was a respected leader and a pillar of the community. His dedication to serving others and his wisdom in guiding his people will never be forgotten. May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannah and forgive his sins. May He also give his family and loved ones the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.”
Baluno’s passing is seen as a significant loss to his community, where he was known as a dedicated public servant. His contributions and leadership will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
