Misamis Oriental, Philippines—The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully apprehended a carnapping suspect during a hot pursuit operation on January 16, 2025, in Misamis Oriental.
The incident began at 12:40 PM when the Libertad Municipal Police Station received a report about the carnapping of a blue Yamaha Sniper motorcycle in Barangay Lubluban, Libertad. Responding swiftly, authorities launched a coordinated operation involving the Misamis Oriental Tactical Operations Center to track down the suspect.
By 1:10 PM, personnel from the 1st Platoon, Misamis Oriental 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), set up a checkpoint in Barangay Amoros, El Salvador City. The suspect, identified only as “Jun,” a 32-year-old resident of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, attempted to evade capture by fleeing toward Sitio Sambulan, Barangay Amoros. However, police efforts culminated in the successful interception and arrest of the suspect.
The apprehended individual is now in the custody of the Libertad Municipal Police Station, where he faces charges under Republic Act 10883, the New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippines.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, lauded the swift response and coordinated efforts of the police and community members in ensuring the arrest.
