CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police authorities seized more than ₱1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a 26-year-old alleged high-value drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City on the evening of October 2.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Nonoy,” is a resident of Opol, Misamis Oriental. Police said he was arrested after allegedly transacting with undercover operatives during the anti-drug operation.
Recovered from the suspect were 157.32 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱1,069,776, according to authorities. Police also confiscated the buy-bust money, a mobile phone, a pouch, and five Chinese envelopes allegedly associated with the seized illegal drugs.
The operation was led by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), with support from the City Mobile Force Company, and was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10.
The successful operation highlights the continuing police focus on intelligence-driven anti-illegal drug operations, particularly against individuals identified as high-value targets in the region’s illegal drug trade. Authorities said such operations are aimed at disrupting the movement and distribution of illegal drugs and identifying other individuals who may be connected to the network.
The seized substance will undergo the required examination and documentation procedures as part of the investigation and case build-up. The suspect remains under the custody of the CDEU-COCPO for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10) reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations against illegal drugs throughout Northern Mindanao, saying police units will continue to pursue individuals involved in illegal activities and bring them before the courts.
Authorities likewise reminded the public that information from communities remains important in identifying and disrupting illegal drug activities. The arrest of “Nonoy,” police said, forms part of the continuing campaign to prevent illegal drugs from reaching communities across Region 10.
