INDANAN, Sulu — Two alleged drug personalities were arrested after authorities seized approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P3.4 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu, on Monday afternoon, September 21, 2026.
The operation was carried out at around 5:30 p.m. at Km. 2, Barangay Kajatian, by personnel of the Indanan Municipal Police Station led by its chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Francis Briones, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Sulu, under Agent Sammer Velle Del Mundo.
Police identified the suspects as a 37-year-old married woman and a 34-year-old married man, both reportedly unemployed and residents of the area.
Authorities said the operation resulted in the recovery of 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, including the substance used as the buy-bust item. The total weight was placed at approximately 500 grams, with an estimated value of P3,400,000.
Also recovered was one genuine P500 bill used as marked buy-bust money, along with a bundle of counterfeit P1,000 bills reportedly amounting to P55,000, and other pieces of evidence connected to the operation.
The suspects were subsequently taken into police custody and are currently being held at the Indanan Municipal Police Station detention cell while authorities prepare the filing of charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The confiscated substance will be subjected to the appropriate examination and documentation as part of the investigation and case preparation.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects pending the filing of charges and completion of the investigation.
The arrests underscore the continuing anti-illegal drug operations being conducted by local police and PDEA personnel in Sulu. However, the suspects remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
