DIGOS CITY, DAVAO DEL SUR — Authorities arrested a 47-year-old unemployed man identified by the alias “Gang” during the implementation of a search warrant at his residence in Purok Star Apple, Barangay Zone I, Digos City, late Wednesday night, September 16, 2026.
The operation was carried out at around 10:12 p.m. by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Digos City Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit/Provincial Intelligence Unit (PDEU/PIU) and intelligence personnel of the 1st Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (DSPMFC).
The operation was conducted under the direction of Police Lieutenant Colonel Norman Yparraguirre, chief of the Digos City Police Station.
Authorities said the operation was conducted pursuant to a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Maria Fe D. Orig-Maloloy-on of the Regional Trial Court, in connection with an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
During the search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement personnel reportedly recovered five transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu.
Also recovered during the operation were one black sling bag and one weighing scale, according to authorities.
The suspected shabu had a combined weight of 20.04 grams and was given a reported standard drug price of P136,340.
The confiscated substance was reportedly secured as evidence for proper documentation and examination in accordance with established procedures. Its identity as an illegal drug remains subject to the appropriate laboratory examination and court proceedings.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Gang,” is reportedly married and unemployed and resides in Barangay Zone I, Digos City.
Authorities said the arrest and seizure form part of continuing anti-illegal drug operations in Digos City and Davao del Sur.
The suspect is expected to face appropriate charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, subject to the findings of investigators and prosecutors and the determination of the courts.
Under Philippine law, an accused person remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt by a competent court.
