DAVAO CITY — Two individuals identified by authorities as high-value individuals in the illegal drug trade were arrested after police and military personnel discovered suspected shabu during a checkpoint inspection in Barangay Mahayag, Bunawan District, Davao City, on August 13, 2026.
The arrests were carried out at about 4 p.m. by personnel of Police Station 6-Bunawan, led by Police Major Janus Lumbaya Macli-ing, in coordination with the Task Force Davao.
According to the Davao City Police Office, the two suspects were apprehended in flagrante delicto after they were subjected to a routine inspection upon entering a fixed checkpoint jointly established by Police Station 6 and Task Force Davao in Barangay Mahayag.
During the inspection, authorities said they noticed prohibited drugs in plain view. The discovery prompted the arrest of the two individuals and the seizure of suspected shabu, which police placed at an estimated standard drug price of ₱303,960.
The police did not provide further details in the initial report regarding the identities of the two arrested individuals, the exact quantity and packaging of the suspected shabu, or the specific circumstances surrounding their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The Davao City Police Office, under the leadership of City Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria, commended the personnel of Police Station 6-Bunawan and Task Force Davao for the operation.
DCPO said it would continue intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs and called on residents to support law enforcement efforts aimed at preventing the movement and distribution of prohibited substances in the city.
The arrest and seizure remain subject to the appropriate investigation and legal proceedings. The two individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
