GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A joint police operation in General Santos City led to the arrest of two suspected drug personalities and the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at ₱326,400, along with an UZI submachine gun, a .38 caliber revolver, ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia, during the implementation of a search warrant late Friday evening, July 31, at Millionaires Village in Barangay Labangal.
The operation was carried out by personnel from Police Station 2 of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), in coordination with the City Mobile Force Company-Special Weapons and Tactics (CMFC-SWAT), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 (RMFB 12), Regional Intelligence Unit 12 (RIU 12), Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), and Regional Mobile Unit 12 (RMU 12).
Authorities were implementing a search warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, when they entered the target premises. Upon entry, operatives immediately observed suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia in plain view, prompting a more extensive search of the property.
Further inspection resulted in the recovery of approximately 48 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to have a street value of ₱326,400, as well as a loaded .38 caliber revolver, an UZI submachine gun, several rounds of ammunition, and additional drug-related equipment.
Police said the firearms and illegal drugs were recovered from two of the seven individuals found inside the residence during the operation.
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Oz” and “Ingrem,” were taken into police custody and are now facing charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in addition to Republic Act No. 10591 for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The confiscated evidence has been placed under police custody for proper documentation and laboratory examination as investigators prepare the corresponding criminal complaints against the arrested individuals.
The successful operation forms part of the intensified anti-criminality campaign of the Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12), which continues to target illegal drug activities and the proliferation of loose firearms in the region.
PBGEN Alan B. Manibog, Acting Regional Director of PRO-12, reaffirmed the Philippine National Police’s commitment to protecting communities from criminal elements.
“Hindi namin hahayaang maging kanlungan ng kriminalidad ang ating mga komunidad. Patuloy naming paiigtingin ang operasyon laban sa iligal na droga at mga ipinagbabawal na armas upang mapanatili ang kapayapaan at matiyak ang kaligtasan ng bawat mamamayan,” Manibog said.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether additional charges will be filed against the other individuals present at the scene, as the investigation remains ongoing. Police are also determining the source of the seized illegal drugs and firearms and whether the suspects are linked to a larger drug distribution network operating in General Santos City and nearby areas.
