GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Authorities arrested a suspect and confiscated an Uzi sub-machine gun during the successful implementation of a search warrant operation in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City, on the night of June 4, 2026.

The operation, led by personnel of Police Station No. 10 of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), forms part of the continuing campaign against illegal firearms and criminality in the city.
Under the leadership of PLT Roy D. Molina, Deputy Station Commander of PS10, and under the direct supervision of Station Commander PMAJ Rhossel A. Continedo, law enforcement operatives carried out the search warrant at around 10:27 p.m. in a residential area of Barangay Calumpang.
The operation was conducted in coordination with Tracker Team Bravo of the Regional Intelligence Division 12 (RID12), the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC-GSCPO), the City Intelligence Unit (GSCPO-CIU), and the Regional Intelligence Unit 12 (RIU12), demonstrating a multi-unit effort to curb the proliferation of loose firearms in the city.
Authorities were armed with Search Warrant No. 26-79, issued by the Regional Trial Court in General Santos City for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police said strict adherence to legal procedures and operational protocols was observed throughout the implementation of the warrant. To ensure transparency and accountability, the entire operation was recorded using Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs). The search was likewise conducted in the presence of mandatory insulating witnesses, including an elected barangay official and a representative from the media.
During the search, which concluded at approximately 11:15 p.m., authorities discovered and recovered one Uzi sub-machine gun with an attached magazine inside the residence.
The recovery of the firearm led to the arrest of the suspect, whose identity was withheld pending further legal proceedings.
Police investigators are now preparing the necessary documentation and charges against the arrested individual for alleged violations of the country’s firearms laws. The confiscated weapon has been turned over to the appropriate authorities for proper disposition, documentation, and forensic examination.
The successful operation underscores the intensified efforts of the General Santos City Police Office and its partner law enforcement units to prevent the circulation of unlicensed firearms, which are often linked to violent crimes, organized criminal activities, and threats to public safety.
