CALAMBA, Misamis Occidental — Authorities successfully carried out a search warrant operation against violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, resulting in the seizure of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Barangay Lower Langub, Calamba town, before dawn on May 27, 2026.

The operation was conducted at around 3:50 a.m. in Purok 5, Barangay Lower Langub by personnel of the Misamis Occidental Maritime Police Station under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Mario J. Gica, station chief, who served as the lead unit during the implementation of Search Warrant No. 07-2026.

The operation was carried out in coordination with personnel from the Calamba Municipal Police Station, the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 in Misamis Occidental.

During the implementation of the warrant, operatives recovered one caliber .45 Colt pistol bearing serial number 694515, one magazine for a caliber .45 pistol, and six live rounds of ammunition.

Authorities said the confiscated firearm and ammunition were properly inventoried in accordance with existing legal procedures. The inventory was witnessed by Barangay Chairwoman Virginia P. Laganson and Barangay Kagawad Jupiter Saycon, both residents of Barangay Lower Langub, ensuring transparency and compliance with operational protocols.

Police authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of the continuing intensified campaign against loose and illegal firearms in the province. Officials stressed that the crackdown aims to prevent firearms from being used in criminal activities and to strengthen peace and public safety within communities.

Law enforcement agencies continue to encourage the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting individuals involved in illegal possession of firearms and other criminal activities as part of broader efforts to maintain peace and order across Misamis Occidental.
