MINDANAO, Philippines — Additional Philippine Army troops have arrived in the area of the 601st Infantry “Unifier” Brigade as part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE), with the deployment aimed at strengthening the brigade’s manpower and operational readiness ahead of the polls.
The 67th Infantry “Agila” Battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel Noe Venancio T. Baluyan Jr., arrived from Davao Oriental as part of the augmentation of forces under the 601st Infantry Brigade.
The Army said the deployment is intended to bolster the brigade’s capability to carry out security measures and other mandated tasks in support of a peaceful, safe, orderly and credible electoral process in areas under its operational jurisdiction.
The arrival of the 67IB comes as security preparations intensify for the upcoming Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, where government security forces are expected to play a key role in maintaining peace and order before, during and after the electoral period.
Upon the battalion’s arrival in the 601st Brigade area, Brigade Commander Brigadier General Gremel B. Brual, PA, personally welcomed the officers and personnel of the 67IB.
Brual also met with Baluyan and other 67IB officers and personnel to discuss the battalion’s integration into the brigade’s operations, coordination mechanisms and primary responsibilities as an augmentation force.
The discussions were intended to ensure that the newly arrived troops understand their roles and can effectively coordinate with existing Army units, attached and operationally controlled forces, as well as other government security stakeholders involved in election preparations.
The Army emphasized that the deployment is not only focused on increasing troop strength but also on improving coordination and operational preparedness among units tasked with supporting security efforts in the Bangsamoro area.
With additional personnel now integrated into the brigade’s area of operations, the 601st Brigade is expected to sustain its coordination with local government units, the Philippine National Police and other concerned agencies and security stakeholders as preparations for the BPE 2026 continue.
The brigade said it will continue strengthening its security and coordination efforts to help create an environment conducive to the exercise of the people’s right to vote freely and safely.
The 601st Infantry Brigade further reaffirmed its commitment, together with its attached and operationally controlled units and partner agencies, to support a peaceful, safe, orderly and credible 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections for the people of the Bangsamoro region.
