DIPOLOG CITY — A netizen’s emotional post about the challenges of seeking justice after becoming a victim of theft has gained attention online, shedding light on the lengthy legal process faced by ordinary citizens in the Philippines.
In a Facebook post shared for public awareness, Alior Hadjula recounted his recent experience after allegedly being robbed in Dipolog City. According to him, despite having CCTV footage and identifying a suspect who reportedly already has multiple criminal records and previous victims, authorities allegedly could not immediately detain the individual without an official order from the Prosecutor’s Office.
“Grabe, based on my own experience, kakaiba talaga ang sistema dito sa Pilipinas—nakakalula,” Hadjula wrote.
He explained that he spent two days waiting at the barangay level for a hearing, only to later learn that the process would still require intervention from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and eventually the Prosecutor’s Office for formal evaluation and possible filing of charges.
Hadjula clarified that local police officers were accommodating and guided him through the proper procedure for filing a complaint. However, he expressed frustration over the lengthy process before a suspect could be formally held accountable.
“Grabe, kawawa talaga ang mga simpleng mamamayan. Bago mo mapanagot ang taong nagnakaw sayo, dadaan ka muna sa napakahabang proseso,” he added.
The netizen identified the alleged suspect by the alias “MATA,” who is reportedly residing in Barangay Turno, Dipolog City. He claimed that several other individuals may have also fallen victim to the same person and urged them to formally file complaints to strengthen the case.
“Sa lahat ng nabiktima nitong mga taong ito dito sa Dipolog City, please file a complaint. Huwag na ninyo hintayin na kayo ulit ang mabiktima or may iba pang maloko,” he appealed.
Hadjula emphasized that his post was intended solely for awareness and clarified that the individual mentioned is only allegedly involved in the theft incident based on CCTV footage and an ongoing complaint currently under review by authorities.
Under Philippine law, suspects arrested without a warrant may only be detained under specific legal circumstances, and complaints often undergo inquest or prosecutor evaluation before formal charges and detention orders can proceed.
As of writing, authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the complaint or the status of the investigation.
The incident has since sparked discussions online regarding the country’s justice system, with many netizens expressing sympathy for victims who must endure lengthy legal procedures before cases move forward.
