CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – May 18 — A man is now under medical care after he was allegedly beaten and stabbed by four unidentified assailants in a violent attack that began in Indahag and ended in Barangay Camaman-an, early Saturday morning.

The victim, identified as Jonie Impantao, sustained multiple serious injuries to his head, neck, and jaw, with visible swelling on his face following what authorities described as a brutal and sustained assault.

Victim Found Bloodied Near Motorela Stop

According to initial accounts, a responder discovered Impantao past 6:00 a.m. already drenched in blood while walking toward a motorela terminal in Camaman-an, apparently seeking help.

The responder noted that the victim’s blood appeared to have already dried, suggesting that the attack may have taken place several hours earlier, possibly during the night.

Despite his severe condition, Impantao was still able to briefly communicate and relay details of the incident before being brought immediately to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. His condition is being closely monitored by attending physicians.

Brutal Assault Along Indahag–Camaman-an Route

Police reports indicate that the victim was allegedly attacked by four men along the route from Indahag to Barangay Camaman-an. He reportedly suffered repeated blows and stab wounds, including what investigators described as neck slashing or “gulgol,” along with hacking injuries to the head.

Authorities also recovered pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including a broken bottle, stones, and other objects believed to have been used during the attack.

Police Eye Possible Personal Dispute

Investigation is ongoing, but authorities are looking into a possible personal conflict as the motive behind the attack.

Police Station 2 Cogon investigator Police Chief Master Sergeant Jonel Monterola said early findings suggest that a “friendship-related altercation” may have escalated into violence, though this theory is still subject to verification.

Residents also reported that the victim, a resident of Taguanao, was later seen sitting in a motorela terminal already weak, bloodied, and suffering from multiple injuries.

Manhunt for Suspects Continues

As of this writing, the identities of the four suspects remain unknown, and police operations are ongoing to locate and arrest those responsible for the attack.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
