PRESIDENT QUIRINO, SULTAN KUDARAT — A motorcycle-riding man identified in an initial report as a commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was shot dead in broad daylight in Poblacion, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, on October 3, 2026.

The victim was identified as Norodin Muslimin, described by initial reports as an MILF commander and an ustadz. He was also reportedly among those who had supported the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP).

Authorities have yet to release details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the identity of the gunman, the motive, and the direction taken by the assailant after the attack.

Initial information indicates that Muslimin was riding a motorcycle when he was fired upon in the Poblacion area. He sustained gunshot wounds and was reportedly killed at the scene.

The incident has raised concerns in the community, particularly because of the victim’s reported affiliation with the MILF and his previous support for the UBJP, a political party associated with the Bangsamoro political landscape.

Police investigators are expected to examine the crime scene, gather possible witness accounts and determine whether the shooting was politically motivated, personal in nature, or connected to other circumstances.

Authorities have yet to issue a definitive statement establishing the motive, and any conclusions remain subject to the ongoing investigation.

The killing also comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of Mindanao, where armed-group affiliations, political rivalries, clan conflicts and other local disputes can intersect.

Further details are expected as law enforcement authorities continue their investigation into the fatal shooting.
