A 32-year-old businesswoman was injured after being shot twice by an unidentified gunman who posed as a customer inside her sari-sari store in Tagum City on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Jen,” sustained gunshot wounds on her left arm, including one that reportedly passed through and exited near the lower portion of her armpit. She is currently undergoing treatment and remains in stable condition after being rushed to the Davao Regional Medical Center for immediate medical attention.

According to a report from the Tagum City Police Station, the incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. inside the victim’s sari-sari store located in Purok 2, Barangay Nueva Fuerza.

Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect pretended to be a customer before suddenly pulling out a firearm and opening fire at the victim. After shooting Jen, the assailant immediately fled toward an unknown direction, prompting authorities to launch a hot pursuit and dragnet operation.

Responding personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered two fired cartridge cases from the crime scene, believed to have been fired from a .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators are looking into personal grudge as a possible motive behind the attack, although authorities said they are still conducting a deeper investigation to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police assured the public that operations are ongoing to track down and arrest the gunman at the soonest possible time.
