DAVAO CITY — A 27-year-old mechanic was arrested in a joint police operation after authorities seized several high-caliber firearms from his possession in Toril, Davao City, on the evening of April 13, 2026.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Chaw-chaw,” was apprehended by combined operatives of the Philippine National Police for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

According to police reports, the operation led to the confiscation of multiple firearms, including .45 caliber pistols and a .38 caliber revolver. Authorities also recovered live ammunition, boodle money used in the transaction, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect.

Law enforcement officers ensured that all recovered evidence was properly inventoried at the scene, following standard police procedures to strengthen the case against the suspect.

Alias “Chaw-chaw” is now in police custody and will face appropriate charges for illegal possession and possible illegal sale of firearms. Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to trace the origin of the seized weapons and determine whether other individuals are involved in the illicit gun trade.

The Philippine National Police reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations against the proliferation of loose firearms, particularly in urban areas, as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminality and ensure public safety.
