DAVAO CITY — A 41-year-old man was wounded after being shot multiple times inside a glass supply shop in Purok 23, Barangay Calinan, on the afternoon of April 16, 2026, in what authorities believe is a long-standing personal dispute.

Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect, described as a man wearing a bonnet and helmet, suddenly entered the establishment and opened fire at close range. The victim was hit in a rapid succession of four gunshots, causing serious injuries.
Despite the attack, the victim managed to survive and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed that he is now in stable condition.
Following the shooting, the assailant fled the scene on a motorcycle, heading toward the Los Amigos area. A follow-up investigation led to the identification of the suspect as a 37-year-old resident of the same locality, known by the alias “Arnel.”
Police disclosed that the shooting was likely triggered by a long-standing conflict between the suspect and the victim over a right-of-way issue, which had reportedly escalated into threats and repeated confrontations prior to the incident.
Hours after the attack, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities. A .45 caliber pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered in a separate operation in the Marilog District. The firearm was found along with seven rounds of ammunition.
Authorities are now preparing to file charges of frustrated murder and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, against the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather additional evidence to strengthen the case.
