A regional weather advisory issued by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warns of widespread rain showers and thunderstorms across Mindanao, with heavier conditions expected in eastern provinces due to the prevailing easterlies.

In its 5:00 AM forecast on April 4, covering the next 24 hours, PAGASA reported that Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. These areas face an elevated risk of flash floods and landslides, especially during periods of moderate to at times heavy rainfall.

The rest of Mindanao, including key regions such as the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Despite generally lighter conditions, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could still trigger localized flash floods or landslides.

Across the Zamboanga City and nearby provinces—Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City—temperatures are expected to range between 22°C and 35°C, accompanied by intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms. Similar weather patterns will prevail in inland provinces such as Bukidnon, where temperatures may dip as low as 19°C.

In Northern Mindanao, including Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, cloudy conditions with rain showers are expected to intensify toward the latter part of the forecast period.

Meanwhile, in the Davao Region, Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, and Davao del Sur will continue to experience isolated to scattered rain showers, while Davao Oriental remains under persistent cloudy skies with more frequent rainfall.

Other areas, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands, will also see increasing cloud cover and rain activity as the easterlies continue to affect the eastern seaboard.

In the BARMM region, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers are expected, with some areas likely to experience thunderstorms later in the period.

Winds across Mindanao will remain light to moderate, generally coming from the northeast to east. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters, making sea travel relatively manageable but still requiring caution during thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised residents, particularly those in landslide- and flood-prone areas, to remain vigilant and monitor updates as weather conditions may change rapidly due to localized thunderstorms intensified by the easterlies.
