Intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue affecting large parts of Mindanao over the next 24 hours, as forecasters warn of possible flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

In its latest regional weather bulletin issued early Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the entire country will experience localized thunderstorms, with Mindanao likely to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies punctuated by isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
While conditions may appear generally fair at times, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could trigger sudden downpours, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying communities and landslides in mountainous areas.
Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 23°C and 34°C, with light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 and 1.5 meters.
Similar weather patterns will prevail in Northern Mindanao, covering Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. Temperatures may dip as low as 18°C in upland areas like Bukidnon, while coastal provinces will experience warmer conditions reaching up to 31°C.
Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN
In the Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 35°C. Davao Occidental may experience periods of cloudy skies with more frequent rainfall, particularly during the night.
SOCCSKSARGEN provinces—North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—will also experience similar conditions, with temperatures peaking at 35°C. Light to moderate winds from the east to northeast will prevail across the region.
Caraga and BARMM Areas
The Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will continue to experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C.
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and del Sur, similar weather conditions are expected. Temperatures will range from as low as 20°C in upland areas of Lanao del Sur to as high as 35°C in inland provinces.
Marine and Wind Conditions
Across Mindanao, winds will remain generally light to moderate, blowing from the east to northeast. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, making sea travel generally manageable, though small vessels are still advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms.
Public Advisory
PAGASA urged residents, especially those in landslide- and flood-prone areas, to remain vigilant as localized thunderstorms can rapidly intensify. Communities are advised to monitor official weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
Despite generally calm conditions in between weather disturbances, authorities stress that the unpredictability of localized thunderstorms requires heightened awareness, especially as the country transitions further into the warmer months.
