Cagayan de Oro City — A suspected drug peddler repeatedly cried that he was “set up” as police arrested him during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaanan, Canitoan on Tuesday.
“Dili na akoa, gi-plantingan ko Ma, Pa!” the man shouted as operatives placed him under arrest, insisting that he had nothing to do with the suspected illegal drugs seized from him.
According to authorities, an undercover operative was able to purchase a sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect during the sting. Officers then recovered an additional two elongated sachets believed to contain shabu, along with a small pouch containing the marked ₱500 buy-bust money.
Despite the confiscated items, the suspect continued to vehemently deny involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Barangay Canitoan Kagawad Tristan Callo confirmed that the man had long been on the barangay’s watchlist due to his alleged drug use. He was also previously reported for physically assaulting his own family members, Callo added.
The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Authorities emphasized that the operation is part of their heightened campaign against illegal drugs in the city.
Investigations are ongoing.
