MARAMAG, BUKIDNON — A quiet midnight turned into terror for a couple in Purok 9, North Poblacion, after a knife-wielding intruder stormed their home and stabbed them without warning past 12 a.m., leaving both victims bloodied but miraculously alive.

Police identified the victims only as alias Jojo, 40, and his wife alias Lynlyn, 31. According to investigators, the couple was inside their home when a man wearing a blue helmet and a black jacket suddenly barged in and attacked.

The suspect reportedly stabbed Jojo in the left chest. Lynlyn, who tried to stop the assault, was also stabbed in the stomach.

Neighbors told reporters they initially ignored the commotion, thinking it was just another quarrel from the couple. But when the shouting grew louder—this time crying for help—they rushed out and were shocked to see the couple wounded and staggering.

The attacker, described to be around 5’3” tall, immediately fled toward the southern direction after the stabbing. The victims told authorities they recognized the suspect, but police are still verifying his identity.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital and are now in stable condition.

Maramag Police Station has launched a hot pursuit operation and a deeper investigation into what they called “a deliberate and targeted attack.”

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant as they work to track down the suspect responsible for the brazen assault inside the victims’ own home.

“This kind of violence inside a supposedly safe space is alarming. We are working round-the-clock to ensure the perpetrator is arrested,” police said.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
