MARAMAG, BUKIDNON — A 46-year-old bao-bao (three-wheeler) driver was shot dead at midday on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after an alleged long-standing personal grudge erupted into violence near the barracks of the 89th Infantry Battalion in Purok 10, South Poblacion, Maramag.
The victim, known by the alias Epong/Eming/Richard (depending on witness accounts), was driving his bao-bao when the suspect — identified as Crisanto/Berto/Artemio, 55, a retired member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines — allegedly approached and shot him multiple times.
According to Maramag Municipal Police Station chief PLtCol. Alexander E. Eugenio, investigators found strong indications that the shooting stemmed from a deep personal dispute between the two neighbors. The argument reportedly escalated moments before the suspect opened fire.
Police responded immediately after receiving a call from a concerned citizen. Upon arrival, officers found the victim sprawled on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. He was rushed by responders to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Shortly after the incident, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Maramag police, where he is now under custody pending formal charges. Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have processed the crime scene, while the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bukidnon Provincial Field Unit is providing investigative support.
Authorities are preparing the filing of appropriate criminal charges as the investigation continues.
Local police urge residents to settle personal disputes peacefully and seek mediation through barangay or legal channels to prevent further loss of life.
