PAGADIAN CITY — The shooting incident that left a 24-year-old man wounded inside a mosque in Purok Campo Islam, Barangay San Pedro, is now considered case solved, according to the Pagadian City Police Station.
Police Chief PLTCOL Jerwin S. Cagurin confirmed this morning that the suspect—identified only by the alias “Dodo”—is already in police custody after voluntarily surrendering during a hot pursuit operation shortly after the incident on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The victim, known as “Khan-khan,” 24, and a resident of the area, sustained a gunshot wound from a .22 caliber pistol while inside the mosque’s washing area. He was immediately rushed to Aisah Medical Hospital, where he remains under medical care.
Police revealed that the suspect is the victim’s own uncle. Investigators determined that a personal grudge triggered the shooting, ruling out any broader security threats or external motives.
Authorities said the case will be filed as homicide—adjusted depending on the victim’s recovery—alongside charges for illegal possession of firearms.
PLTCOL Cagurin emphasized that the swift resolution of the case was made possible through rapid police response and community cooperation. The suspect’s surrender, he added, reflects the effectiveness of their pursuit operations and the willingness of residents to help maintain peace and order.
The investigation remains ongoing as police finalize documents for the filing of appropriate charges.
