TABINA, Zamboanga del Sur — A 61-year-old fisherman from Barangay Poblacion is now confined at Margosatubig Regional Hospital after being struck by a falling bunch of coconuts at the height of strong winds on Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2025.

The victim, identified as Armando Layaog, a resident of Purok Uptown, was seriously injured when the gusts of wind caused coconuts to fall on him. According to his daughter, Layaog now struggles to move due to the extent of his injuries. His wife, who was present when the accident happened, tearfully recounted the incident to local radio reporters who responded to the scene.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) quickly assisted the victim and rushed him to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.
