PALIMBANG, Sultan Kudarat — The body of a 45-year-old fisherman was recovered after it was found floating in the coastal waters off Barangay Milbuk in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, on the evening of September 28, 2026.
The deceased was identified by the Palimbang Municipal Police Station as Angelo Abe Davalos, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Kiamba, Sarangani Province.
According to the police report, the Philippine Coast Guard–Milbuk Station alerted the Palimbang police after its personnel recovered the body from the sea. The circumstances surrounding how Davalos ended up in the waters remain part of the initial investigation.
Personnel of the Palimbang Municipal Police Station immediately proceeded to the area and conducted an initial investigation following the recovery.
The body was subsequently brought to the Palimbang Rural Health Unit for a post-mortem examination to help determine the circumstances and possible cause of death.
Based on the assessment of the attending physician, no indication of foul play was observed during the examination, while cardiac arrest was considered a possible cause of death. Police also noted that the assessment took into consideration the health history reportedly provided by Davalos’ wife.
Authorities did not report any immediate evidence indicating that the fisherman had been the victim of a violent attack.
Following the medical examination and the completion of the necessary procedures, Davalos’ remains were released to his wife.
The body was then transported to their home in Kiamba, Sarangani Province, where his family will make arrangements for his burial.
The recovery underscores the risks faced by fishing communities and other people whose livelihoods depend on the waters surrounding the coastal areas of Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.
For now, authorities are treating the death based on the available medical findings, with the attending physician’s assessment pointing to a possible cardiac-related death and no apparent indication of foul play.
